Shaping the Future of Prince George’s County: The Prince George’s Business & Economic Imperative
When visionaries, business leaders, and community stakeholders come together, momentum is built, strategies are strengthened, and real impact is made. That’s exactly what happened at the Prince George’s Business & Economic Imperative, held on March 5, 2025, at IKEA College Park. Hosted by the Norman F. Holmes Foundation and Nudawn Marketing Group, this event created a high-energy space for forward-thinking discussions on business development, investment opportunities, and the critical role of public safety in economic prosperity.
A Gathering of Influential Voices
The event featured an impressive lineup of speakers, including Kevin Anderson, Senior Advisor for Economic Development in the Executive Office of the Governor, who took the stage for a Fireside Chat. Anderson’s message was clear: Maryland is committed to winning the decade through sustained economic growth and investment.
“Great thanks to Greg Holmes and the Norman F. Holmes Foundation for creating a wonderful opportunity to discuss economic development in Prince George’s County and the state of Maryland,” Anderson shared. “We’re on our way to winning the decade.”
The conversation didn’t stop there. Business executives, policymakers, and law enforcement officials engaged in deep, solution-driven discussions about building a safer, more prosperous business environment in Prince George’s County. Panels featuring leaders from Bowie, Greenbelt, and Hyattsville law enforcement agencies, along with key business executives, underscored the importance of a collaborative approach to economic development.

People Drive Economic Development
A standout moment came during the Economic CEO Panel, moderated by Orlan Johnson, Board Chair for the Prince George’s County Economic Development Corporation. Johnson’s insights reminded everyone that, beyond capital and infrastructure, people are the true catalysts for economic success.
“It was great to participate as a moderator for the Prince George’s Business & Economic Imperative. The conversation was thoughtful and productive,” Johnson reflected. “However, it was also a reminder that the ultimate resource in economic development is the people. It is not capital or raw materials that develop an economy. Let’s keep developing our people.”
